South Beach Diet

The South Beach Diet (DSB) promises a loss of 4 to 6 kgs in the first 2 weeks through a balanced diet that includes fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and healthy fats. This diet was developed by renowned cardiologist Arthur Agatston, Director of Cardiovascular Prevention Center, The Mount Sinai Center, Miami Beach, Florida. His work has become a bestseller that appears to exceed the Atkins diet known in popularity and performance. The DSB retains the best aspects of the Atkins diet (proteins) and dismisses the belief that all carbohydrates should be prohibited, allowing you to achieve maximum health. Agatston promotes a balanced diet that includes widely fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts and healthy fats. Additionally, the DSB helps improve cholesterol and triglyceride levels, reducing levels of bad cholesterol and

increase good cholesterol and insulin levels improved, so important in cardiovascular health. The DSB consists of 3 phases: - Phase I: Control of anxiety by eating irrationally During this phase are consumed normal amounts of meat, chicken, turkey, fish and seafood as well as copious amounts of vegetables, eggs, cheese and nuts. Allowed 3 balanced meals daily and can snack mid-morning or late afternoon, you can even take a snack after dinner, besides water, coffee or tea if desired. During the first 14 days you can not eat bread, pasta, potatoes, rice, fruit, sweets, desserts, cakes, biscuits or refined sugars. Neither alcoholic beverage is permitted. - Phase II: Introduction of beneficial carbohydrates After the first 2 weeks will be lost between 4 and 6 kilos, especially abdominal fat, but more important is the internal change. Rhythmically decrease anxiety and the person will feel better. After 14 days you can still lose weight. It may make pasta, rice, bread, tortillas, fruit and chocolate. Upon reaching the goal, passed to a more liberal phase of the program, which helps keep the weight off for life. - Phase III: Eating right for life When you reach this stage, rather than a dietary strategy, it is a lifestyle. If there is some weight gain in phase III simply return to Phase II or I for 14 days Despite its simplicity the South Beach Diet should be supervised by a specialist. It is not healthy to follow any diet program to keep for life to a person experiencing discomfort and hunger.
