Importance of a Balanced Diet
Three fundamental principles should dominate what we eat: the food should nourish , helping to maintain health and, where necessary, should help in the battle against sickness.
It is also important to have a smell, taste and attractive appearance.
No food is "good" or "bad", just good or bad diets. For example, only salad and fruit eaten in the day, a burger with all the ingredients or a large portion of fish and chips may be just what your body needs.
All foods have different levels of nutrients, but none alone provides all the vitamins and minerals your body requires. The important thing is to maintain a balanced diet, or macrobiotic.
To maintain health and good functioning
of the body, we need 13 vitamins and 16 minerals, and fats, proteins and carbohydrates. And while not a nutrient, also require lots of water (2 liters minimum for an average adult).
By eating a variety of foods in reasonable portions can obtain adequate levels of nutrients needed for proper health.
